June 15 Livestream Recap

PAX West! Beamdog will be off to the west coast for a special announcement panel.
Beamdog CEO Trent Oster and Studio Director Phillip Daigle shared the latest news and updates on Neverwinter Nights: Enhanced Edition and Infinity Engine patches. During the livestream Phil and Trent answered fan questions and did a tour around the Beamdog studio.

Missed the stream (done via Phil’s phone due to a sudden Windows update)? It's on YouTube and Twitch! Here's a quick summary of the highlights:

Phil and Trent walked around the Beamdog office.
  • We’re going to do a panel at PAX West (August 31 - September 3, 2018) and preparing to make a wide variety of announcements there! Phil says some of them might be “outside of our usual playbox”. More news soon!

June Roundup - Sales, Patch News, and More!

We’re nearly through June and what month it’s been! The GOG Summer Sale has just finished, making way for the Steam Summer Sale! This month we’ve been matching prices on both sales on Beamdog.com, so be sure to let us know if you’ve picked up a deal through us.

All of our Enhanced Edition titles and soundtracks have been marked down on Steam and Beamdog.com, so it’s the perfect time to pick an adventure for the summer (and maybe one for the fall, and another for the winter…). If you haven’t picked up Baldur’s Gate: Siege of Dragonspear, you can now do so at 50% off - the best price this game has ever been at!

By popular demand, the official soundtracks for Baldur’s Gate: Enhanced Edition, Baldur’s Gate II: Enhanced Edition, Baldur’s Gate: Siege of Dragonspear, and Icewind Dale: Enhanced Edition are now available on Beamdog.com and GOG. Act quick to get the soundtracks on sale on Steam, Beamdog, and (soon!) GOG!

So what have we been up to this month? Patch 3.1.3 was released for Planescape: Torment: Enhanced Edition, fixing bugs reported by the community. We’ve had a lot of positive feedback about the patch and are continuing to listen to what fans are saying about the game and what bugs they find.

Earlier in the month, we sent out a survey to our mailing list of Siege of Dragonspear: Collector’s Edition owners and the feedback we got back was invaluable. We’re still going through all the comments but from what we’ve seen, we’re sure your suggestions will absolutely help shape any future collector’s editions we create in the future.

Enhanced Edition owners on Steam were treated to a surprise last week when we released trading cards for our pre-PST:EE games. Since then we’ve seen an amazing number of messages from happy collectors and even a few reports of completed badges!

The team is continuing work on the iOS patches which include 64-bit support. With iOS 11 coming this fall, getting patches out to ensure owners of Enhanced Edition games on iTunes can continue to play their adventures is one of our top priorities. We’ll have more to share on these patches soon.

The Beamdog Client will also be seeing a patch in the near future fixing several reported issues and adding localization for Spanish and Italian users.

Oh, let’s not forget that the Beamdog team is growing! A few new faces will be joining us in the months ahead and we’re still taking applications for a Producer to help us bring new titles into the world. If you’ve got the skills, apply!

Highlights from the Planescape: Torment: Enhanced Edition Official Soundtrack

Can music change the nature of a man?
Planescape: Torment is a cult classic for many, many reasons. The bizarre city of Sigil is a joy to explore and you’ll encounter some of the oddest characters ever found in the Dungeons & Dragons universe, engaging in conversations with demons, devas, and everything in between. Throughout it all, the Planescape experience is buoyed by this amazing soundtrack which adds depth to the setting.

In Planescape: Torment: Enhanced Edition The Nameless One wakes to find himself in central hub of the universe, a place where every turn leads to something amazing and dangerous. Step through portals if you dare. Will it lead to a mechanized plane or to a demons' domain? Like the game, the Planescape: Torment: Enhanced Edition Official Soundtrack transports the listener to the very heart of Planescape. Each track leads to a new discovery and sensation.

Composed by Mark Morgan, an American score composer for video games, television and films, the music in the Planescape: Torment: Enhanced Edition Official Soundtrack is critically acclaimed and considered by fans among the best soundtracks for computer games.

The music of Planescape: Torment is not only substantially dark and eerie, but emotional as well. Mark Morgan combined ethnic and industrial sound to create 37 tracks fitting the unique Planescape setting. Each track tells a story about the multiverse and those who live within it, mixing wonder and horror in equal measure. The main theme alone is enough to send chills down your spine.

The Mortuary theme is full of muffled ticking undertones, with occasional scrapings and whispers to reflect on the nature of that building. In the Sigil theme, one can almost hear the dangers lurking around every corner. Fortress of Regrets is a grandiose and doleful melody which ties in perfectly with the story told in the final area of the game.

The Planescape: Torment: Enhanced Edition Official Soundtrack is not only about ambient environmental music, companions themes are what makes this soundtrack truly outstanding. Profoundly sad and beautiful, Deionarrra's Theme is often named the best track composed in a game. The mechanical beats in Nordom's Theme makes it fitting for this character. Although never used in-game, Morte's theme is the most humorous track and not without good reason, this floating skull's personality is conveyed in his theme perfectly. Morte’s theme underlines that, for all its dark tones, Planescape: Torment retains a lot of humour, and the game's soundtrack follows this mix.

The Planescape: Torment: Enhanced Edition Official Soundtrack can be purchased along with PST:EE from Beamdog, GOG, and Steam.
